Apparently, I have a reputation

And then, I sit down to eat my soup (yes, I know, it's 105 outside and I'm eating soup...), and go through my email when I find an email from a publicist. INVITING ME TO GET EARLY ACCESS TO RACHEL REID'S NEW HOCKEY ROMANCE.
I know, I know, I'm ridiculous, but I loved Time to Shine so much. And while I still need to dive into her Game Changers series I AM SO EXCITED. 🤣
In the meantime, I need to get myself one of these. (Also, one of these, too.)
Blurb:
After moving back to his hometown ten years ago, Riley Tuck thought he had left his major league hockey career—and his broken heart—far behind. But when an unexpected tragedy strikes, it brings ex-teammate and former best friend with benefits Adam Sheppard back into his life.
Coming to the small town of Avery River, Nova Scotia, might have been a mistake. Adam’s not sure he’ll ever win back Riley’s trust after the way they left things—and the attention he’s getting as a huge hockey star isn’t exactly helping. Yet the chemistry that crackles between them is undeniable, even now.
As Adam helps Riley navigate his grief, long-buried feelings start to resurface. But they’ll have to square off with their complicated past if they’re going to have a real shot at a new beginning.
And now I suppose I ought to get back to work. Especially since like one person is going to care about this post. 😂

And yes, you do need those!

Date: 2024-08-28 08:04 pm (UTC)I'm way too excited. :D
Hahaha... I might have to order one or the other here soon. :D

Date: 2024-08-28 08:02 pm (UTC)AAAAAAAIIIIIIIAAAA! Consider this post having found its target audience.
That said, this feels like something I started but haven't picked up again. I'll have to go through my Kindle.
I'm really excited about this. And yes, you should read the 2nd, 5th, and 6th books of the Game Changers series. So good.

If you figure it out, let me know. I love a second chance romance. :D
Yay! Happy to have shared then! I just checked and I have book 1 purchased and at least books 2 and 3 are available from the library (as the others probably are, too). So, once I manage to finish the one I'm in the middle of, I'll have to jump on these.

Date: 2024-08-29 02:03 am (UTC)I like the stickers too. The book is called "Off The Ice". It's by Michaela Grey (who is now calling herself Tierney Rose). It's one of the few hockey books I DNF'd, so if you can find it free or at a library (and I'm super impressed that your library has Rachel Reid novels), that might be your best bet.

Date: 2024-08-29 06:41 pm (UTC)The stickers are fun! Interesting, why did you DNF it?
Our local library uses Hoopla, which tends to have a ton of LGBTQ books! Plus, hockey romance is really having its day right now, so I'm thinking people have been requesting the library purchase a lot of the ones that you wouldn't have found a year ago.

Date: 2024-08-29 08:42 pm (UTC)It didn't exaggerate the title. If I recall, there wasn't a lot of hockey in it. I wasn't into the whole rural scene so it was pretty dull. I'm sure Rachel's book will be better. Just let me know if there are cows or alpacas in it.

Date: 2024-08-29 09:02 pm (UTC)Ah, that makes sense and is a valid reason, honestly. Just call it a small town romance if you're not going to put the hockey in there. (And is a good part of the reason why mine has stalled.)
I'm sure hers will be better! And if there's a cow or other farm animal, there will be a reason for it!

Date: 2024-08-29 02:35 pm (UTC)ooooh look at you!!! I think I've read some Rachel Reid but not the Game changer Gamechanger series

Date: 2024-08-29 02:48 pm (UTC)I've only read one other by her — Time to Shine — and I loved it. I need to start the Game Changer series ASAP! Her books are a lot of fun.

Date: 2024-08-30 04:14 pm (UTC)Thanks! I will be sure to let you all know once I get it read.
Aw, I love him, too. "Little Rock" is one of my faves. He never got the credit he deserved either.

Date: 2024-09-04 06:41 pm (UTC)The stickers are great! Thanks, it makes me really happy when I don't have to request and wait to see if I'm going to get denied. I like her books, so I'm hoping it's good, too.

Date: 2024-09-17 03:54 pm (UTC)Thanks! I'm itching to get at it, but have two that release in October that need to be read first. LOL

Date: 2024-09-17 04:05 pm (UTC)Oh I totally understand that.

Date: 2024-09-17 04:15 pm (UTC)While I have done much better about not requesting every ARC that catches my eye, I was not paying attention to release dates — these two both release on the same day. Whoops. 😂 They are both cozy mysteries, however, so they should be quick reads.

Date: 2024-09-17 04:17 pm (UTC)I absolutely understand that. Yes, they should be quick reads.

Date: 2024-09-17 04:28 pm (UTC)It's one of the reasons why I love cozies so much. Plus, they're both sequels in a series I already enjoy, so bonus.

Date: 2024-09-17 04:29 pm (UTC)Makes sense. I'm reading the book Mommy got me for my birthday. Absolute bonus!

Date: 2024-09-17 04:46 pm (UTC)Very cool! What did she get you? (Not that I need to add to the TBR or anything buuuuut...)

Date: 2024-09-17 04:57 pm (UTC)Part one of Hijack the Seas by Karen Chance. It's the like 18th in the series, but one of my favorites. LOL I just looked, 13th. This is the first one, Touch the Dark.
(Now I'm having HTML issues)
Her last couple are two parters because her books have gotten thicker and it's not worth it for her to publish them as one novel.
no subject
Date: 2024-09-17 05:06 pm (UTC)Oh nice, I like her books!
(I'm beginning to think it's LJ and not you, me, OR the HTML.)
They do that with a lot of fantasy novels. It's fine to publish a 700 page hardback, but a paperback that large would fall apart.
no subject
Date: 2024-09-17 05:09 pm (UTC)I do also. I need to read her other series because they're starting to converge.
It makes sense to me, but there were some people complaining when this one was published. I'd rather have a bigger story than shorter, incomplete ones. And I fully want her to make money on the books. Which she wouldn't with 200K word books.
no subject
Date: 2024-09-17 05:36 pm (UTC)I didn't know they did that, will have to keep it in mind if I ever manage to get back to that series.
I get it, times are tough right now and paperbacks have gotten expensive. They're angry they have to put out twice as much money, which is understandable. But I'm with you, I'd rather the 700 page story rather than an overly edited, watered down version. However, this is why I have several library cards. LOL
no subject
Date: 2024-09-17 05:40 pm (UTC)So far it's just knowing who Dorina is and how she relates, but it's enough that I want to read them.
They really have gotten expensive, but I'd rather lay out 30 bucks for two paperbacks than 1 hard cover. I get more story that way.
LOL same. Or well, I only have one, but it has 8 libraries on it.
no subject
Date: 2024-09-17 06:04 pm (UTC)Hah, understandable!
Well, no, I mean, if the hardback is 700 pages and the paperbacks are broken into two 350 page books, you're getting the same story, just in two parts vs one. Like I remember To Green Angel Tower by Tad Williams being two paperbacks, but it was the same story as it was in the massive hardcover.
I wish I could get reciprocal use with libraries outside of Clark County, but unfortunately, I only get HPL and the LVCC library. So, I've paid for non-resident cards in a couple of areas, like New Orleans, which has a huge digital catalogue. But, I read so much that I definitely get my money's worth.
no subject
Date: 2024-09-17 06:06 pm (UTC)Well, she doesn't publish in hardcover so there's that also.
Ugh yeah same. I'd have to pay for any outside access. I know NYPL was offering free digital at one point, but I don't know if they still are.

Date: 2024-09-17 06:57 pm (UTC)Gotcha.
I just checked and it doesn't look like it, unless you live in New York state. Harris County (Houston), TX has one that's only like $35 or $40 a year and they have a huge catalogue.

Date: 2024-09-17 07:02 pm (UTC)Yeah I checked right after I said it. Must have been a pandemic thing.

Date: 2024-09-17 08:01 pm (UTC)I think that it was, they wanted to make sure people had access to books.

Date: 2024-09-17 08:25 pm (UTC)Yes, I think so.
