I want to get back to posting about my everyday life, as boring as it might be, but keep forgetting. Or putting it off. Something.
First, Taylor had some big news. She got her 1 year pin to celebrate her first year of service as a nurse, which is exciting. I think it also means she’s no longer an intern and now a fully functional nurse.
Second, she also told me she was honored with a DAISY award for Extraordinary Nurses. One of her patients nominated her and wrote a very sweet nomination note. You can learn more about The DAISY Foundation here if you’re interested.
To say I’m proud is an understatement. She’s really found her calling and I’m thrilled for her. I’m hoping that Maddie feels the same about her job once she graduates.
Maddie’s just bopping along, going to school and not doing much else. She was fired from her job a couple of months ago, on the same day as another coworker who had been there since day 1 – eight years ago. That she and this guy were fired on the same day led me to believe it had less to do with their performance and more to do with the fact that they were the only two employees left that had been hired by the former owner. Hopefully she can find something soon.
In other news, I had the boys at the vet last week for another round of vaccinations and a checkup. Fawkes is a fine 12.2 lbs and healthy as can be. Gideon, on the other hand, is a whopping 17.6 lbs! And apparently has a heart murmur, but the vet isn’t concerned about it. He said they’ll keep an eye on it, but pets can live long lives with a murmur.
However, fat butt is now on a diet (which means all the rest are, too). It has been chaos. I need to weigh Gideon to see if it’s helping and I hope to do that this weekend since it’s been almost 2 weeks. Wish him luck. He seems to be doing okay, but Violet is not happy having her free access to food revoked.
Lastly, a couple of new songs I found today that I really like.
This first one reminds me of Andrej pre-relationship with Zayne.
And this one’s just kind of fun:
And I think that’s it for me today. Taylor and I are going to the Renaissance Festival tonight, a tradition we’ve been doing since the year I was pregnant with her (1999). We’ve only missed two years that I can remember – 2020 (for obvious reasons) and last year because of hers and Maddie’s work schedules. Should be fun.
Happy Weekend!
UPDATE: I weighed lard butt this morning and he's down to 17.2 lbs! Yay Gids!

Date: 2024-10-14 12:09 am (UTC)Poor Maddie it is never any fun to be fired for something that was out of your control. Hopefully she will find something even better.
I had to put my cat Isabel on diet cat food. She was super not a fan, but it helped with so many of her digestive problems she was having because she was overweight. I'm glad that Gideon is doing well on the new food.
I hope the renaissance faire was a lot of fun!

Date: 2024-10-14 05:10 pm (UTC)Thanks, I was really impressed with her!
I know, and she actually enjoyed her job and her co-workers. I hope so, too.
Poor girl! But yay for it helping her both loose weight and feel better, too. Vet said that he had a good diet food, but wasn't going to suggest it yet, just limit his intake. So, I bought indoor formula cat food which is fewer calories, I believe. Thanks, Violet's the only one complaining — usually at 2 AM — that's she's hungry. LOL
It was a blast and we had a good time. :)
