Feelin' Cute (Misc Fic)

asphaltcowgrrlThere was a prompt this morning on comment-fic: feelin' cute, might stab someone later. And, of course, this made me think of my cats.
Gideon sat on the bathroom counter, carefully grooming one paw. The Human had taken him to the vet – twice! – this week, said she was ‘worried about him’. He stopped grooming and looked out towards where she sat on the couch, reading. She was worried about nothing. He’d pee when he was ready to pee, why didn’t she understand that.
But she was a good human, made sure they had clean water, plenty of food (even if he wasn’t allowed to snack all day like he used to), treats at night, and more toys than one cat could play with. Plus, they had each other. Gideon, his brother, Fawkes, plus the two grouchy girls who were there when he and his brother had arrived. He’d never admit it, but they weren’t so bad, Sunny and Violet.
“Aww, look at you,” his human said, cooing into his face.
He hated when she did that, but he knew that all the loving pats would come after, so he let her have her moment. Violet sat in the doorway to the bathroom, watching as he got all the pats from The Human. She narrowed her eyes at him, but he just smirked. He knew from experience that she did not get left out or shortchanged when it came to the pets and all the loves. His humans – the Mother and her two Kittens – distributed the love evenly.
“You are so stinkin’ cute,” she said, giving his ears a rub.
I know, he thought. But I still might claw something later.

Gideon a few days after his trip to the emergency vet. Definitely feeling better.
