Title: Not in Singapore
Fandom: Romani Detective Original Fiction
Pairing: James Rosewood/Zayne Reyes, Andrej Zeklos/James Rosewood, Andrej Zeklos/Zayne Reyes (yes, I went through all the pairings in this one)
Rating: PG-13 bordering on a big higher
Word Count: 1,007
Summary: Zayne has a bad habit that bugs James.
Author’s Note: Written for the weekend challenge at 1_million_words. The prompt was: Keep the curtains closed when nude in Singapore.
James sat on the couch, reading an article in the newspaper – yeah, Andy still had one delivered – regarding the probability of the Athletics moving from Oakland to Las Vegas. It made James wonder what the hell was wrong with Oakland that it kept casting off its sports teams. First, the Raiders, and now possibly, the A’s? He shook his head, grateful that at least their hockey team wasn’t a reject. He didn’t even like hockey, but he held onto that tidbit like a lifeline.
He folded the paper over and flipped it up so he could continue reading. A flash of something warm and brown caught his attention from the corner of his eye. Looking up from the paper, he frowned. Zayne had just strolled past him, completely nude, on his way into the kitchen.
“The hell,” he muttered. Setting the paper down on the coffee table – Andy would have his hide if he put it on the couch – he followed the cowboy into the kitchen.
Zayne was leaning against the counter, savoring what was likely his first sip of coffee that morning. “Oh hey, gingerbread, didn’t know you were here.” He hooked a thumb over his shoulder. “Want some coffee?”
“No,” James said, drawing the word out. “I would like for you to go put some clothes on, though.”
Zayne lifted his gaze from the mug in his hands until it met James’. “Really,” he drawled. “I thought you liked what I had to offer.” He made a subtle movement with his hips that sent his manhood swaying.
Clearing his throat, James attempted to look away from Zayne’s glorious nakedness, hating that he had so little self-control when it came to the annoying cowboy. He could feel his mouth start to water at the many possibilities a naked and brazen Zayne presented but forced himself to resist. Despite the fact that Andy wouldn’t be angry if he came home to find them both in flagrante delicto, they’d been caught in too many compromising situations already, adding to that number wasn’t high on his list.
Oh, okay, so it was, but he was trying to behave, damn it all.
“Whatcha thinking, narco,” Zayne asked, lazily sipping from his mug. “I bet it’s dirty.”
James choked, causing Zayne to laugh loudly.
“Thought so,” he grinned.
“You are incorrigible,” James spat, hating himself more than Reyes in that moment.
“Yeah,” Zayne breathed before downing what was left in his cup. “But you love every damn minute of it.” He moved from his spot to the sink, rising his mug and setting it in the dish drainer. “I’ll be in my room if you’re bored. Or something.” He winked and left the kitchen.
James managed to wait exactly ninety-seven seconds before he growled and followed his sexy as sin boyfriend into his bedroom.
--
“We really need to talk about Zayne,” James said, cornering Andy half an hour after he returned from wherever he’d gone that morning.
Sighing, he glanced at the redhead. “What has he done now, Jay?”
“Did you know he walks around the house naked? In the daytime?”
Andy’s eyes lost focus for a second, a hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, before it was gone, replaced by his usual, stoic expression. “Yes, Jay, I am aware.”
“It needs to stop,” James insisted.
“As long as no one besides us is here, I do not see the harm,” Andy replied. “If you and he were not,” he waved his hand helplessly to describe what he and the cowboy were, “whatever it is you are calling yourselves, I could understand your wanting him to cover up. But I do not understand this, knowing what I know.”
James secretly wondered if Andy knew that he’d fucked Reyes silly earlier after his little display. He pushed the thought aside. “It’s illegal.”
“Not in his own home, as far as I am aware,” Andy replied mildly.
“It is in Singapore,” James muttered.
“Did we move,” Andy replied in a language James that sounded suspiciously like Chinese.
“When the hell did you learn Mandarin,” he asked. “When did you have time?”
Shrugging his shoulders, he changed the subject. “Are you staying for dinner?”
Huffing out a breath, he said, “I guess so.”
--
“My guess is that he’s not comfortable enough with himself to do it,” Zayne said, referencing his walking around nude, “which makes him extra uncomfortable with me doing it.”
“I am not comfortable walking around outside of our bedroom unclothed,” Andrej said, “however, it does not bother me when you do so.”
“Until someone knocks on the door,” Zayne teased. He nuzzled his nose into the crook of Andrej’s neck, sending a shiver up his boyfriend’s spine.
“That is a legitimate reason to be uncomfortable with your partner strolling around nude,” Andrej pointed out.
“Maybe,” Zayne said, his hand trailing up Andrej’s stomach. “But who knows, maybe whoever’s on the other side of that door needs a dose of something spicy.”
Andrej chuckled and turned his body into Zayne’s. “You are definitely something spicy,” he teased.
“Soo,” Zayne said, draping an arm across Andrej’s waist and puling him closer. “We’re both naked.”
“We are,” Andrej replied lazily. “And?”
“And,” Zayne said, kissing Andrej’s collarbone, “I’m thinking something ice cold to drink would be nice right about now.”
“What are you saying,” Andrej asked, looking up into Zayne’s mischievous green eyes.
“Would you go get me a beer,” he asked, bopping Andrej on the nose with a finger.
“No,” Andrej said, chuckling. “But feel free to go and get us both something cold to drink.”
Grinning, Zayne swooped in for a quick kiss. “Okay, spoilsport, I’ll go.”
Zayne rolled out of bed and headed for the door. “Miss me while I’m gone?”
“Always,” Andrej agreed. “And for the record,” he called after his boyfriend. “I only said no so I could watch you walk around naked.”
The sound of Zayne’s laughter filled the house, warming Andrej’s heart. And possibly a few other things as well.
