When your kid goes to Canada...

asphaltcowgrrl...and brings back THE GOODS.
Now, there is a story here. Back in the 90's, we could get plain Aero Bars in the US. They were everywhere and they were DELICIOUS. Chocolate poured over a center of aerated chocolate that gave you this creamy and crisp bite. God, I was obsessed with them and cranberry ginger ale (back in the days before they decided it was 'seasonal'. I like cranberries in July thanks!) and then suddenly, I couldn't find them anywhere. I was devastated. I was also like 19, so cut me some slack here. Hahaha.
A few years ago, after Cost Plus had its glow up and became World Market, I wandered inside, feeling some nostalgia. We used to only have one in town and we'd hit it up after the mall when the girls were little. So, when one opened up nearby, I had to visit. Do you know what I found inside? AERO BARS. Chocolate, mint, and strawberry even. I lost my mind and then I looked at the price. Five dollars for something I was going to eat in one sitting. I did buy one though - one.
Then Maddie started hitting Calgary every summer with her friend (who is Canadian). On her first trip, she found some and texted me a picture (while also bringing some home). When I was in Montreal, I found them myself and sent her a picture. Because she and I are just weird that way. I also went back to the hotel that night and watched the Knights get beat in French but that's another story.
Anyway, they were in this candy story and Maddie starts grabbing all these candy bars and her friend's mom asks why she's getting so many. My child, of course, has to out my addictions to her BFF's mom. 😂 In sympathy, the friend's mom bought me this fantastic tea towel:
My kitchen is very much the opposite of red, but I love this. So, it'll get hung on the stove soon.
