Aug. 19th, 2025 09:46 amI'm trying to journal more since I'm not writing a dang thing these days. *sigh* But maybe if I get into the habit of writing something, then maybe the muse will cooperate?
For my birthday last month, the girl in accounting at one of our vendors - someone we buy a ton of material from - gifted me a Ninja Creami ice cream machine. We'd talked about it a few months prior and she told me she'd see if she could swing it for my birthday. I thought she was kidding, but she was not. Her rationalization was, "Well, when one of the guys treats one of our customers, it's always golf. That's a lot more expensive than this." Hey, who am I to complain?
I've tried a lot with this in the month I've had it, and so far, I like making milkshakes the best. However, the sorbets made with just a can of fruit are the easiest. I had some crushed pineapple I'd frozen over the weekend, so I popped it into the machine, spun it, added some coconut milk for creaminess and a bit of coconut extract, and spun it again. Man, the only thing it was missing was some rum. Hahaha.
I'd also made the vanilla ice cream recipe that came in the book, which was good, but a little more effort than I was willing to put forth. Yes, I'm lazy, sue me. 😂 However, thanks to Reddit, I found a super simple, 3 ingredient recipe: milk, heavy cream, and sweetened condensed milk. I mixed up a batch on Saturday and threw it into the freezer. After dinner, I put a pint into the machine and right after I pulled it out, Maddie came downstairs. I'm took the lid off, looked inside, and it looked like freaking frosting. I offered Maddie a taste and she dang near took the pint out of my hands. Hahaha. It has the best texture, firm, but creamy, and so good. I'm definitely going to have to play around with this a bit. Maddie is obsessed.
Yeah, I know, this isn't helping with the weightloss at all, but dangit, it's good stuff.

Date: 2025-08-20 04:04 am (UTC)Ice cream is never a bad thing. Never ever! :). That does sound wonderful — what a kind giftie. I love my Ninja blender.
I had another day not conducive to writing. I had to get the house whipped into shape, take care of the garden, get to a dermatology appointment (all good) and then run errands at two stores. In between, I helped mom out with a couple of things in the early afternoon and again late afternoon. Then was home in time for the Orkin man, as we (sadly) have a bee infestation in an electric outlet on the left wall of the house. That made me sad and stressed 'cause I hate having to have bees killed. We need more bees! Also went grocery shopping for myself, as the fridge was pretty much empty — and made a full dinner with cleanup after. Tomorrow... lunch with a friend to talk about volunteering at the college, like I need more to do? What am I thinking?
I'll bet homemade strawberry ice cream would be amazing!

Date: 2025-08-20 05:53 pm (UTC)Right? I've become a Ninja fanatic — blender, air fryer, and ice cream maker! And my vacuum is a Shark, although my steam mop is a Bissell. LOL
Wow, you really had a busy day. Ugh, I feel the same way about bees, but you don't have much choice here, unfortunately. Hahaha — you're keeping yourself busy is what you're doing! Maybe it'll work out for you.
Oh yes, that sounds wonderful. Maddie hates strawberries though. But hey, more for me, right?
