In addition, if you knew you were going to pop dirty, WHY ARE YOU CALLING ME EVERY THREE DAYS ASKING ABOUT RESULTS?
And I mean, marijuana is legal here for both medical and medicinal use, which means that if you test positive for THAT, hiring/firing is left to the discretion of the employer. Brian recently rehired a guy who tested positive for this but only becuase the employee told him upfront that he was going to come back positive.
But this dude just came back positive for METHADONE.
In other news, had a guy come in and ask for Brian. I ask if he's looking for a job and he says yes, so I hand him an application. He then asks to speak to Brian again. When I ask if Brian's expecting him, he says, "Well, I'm related to one of your employees, so yeah, he's expecting me." I bite my tongue and walk into the office to see if Brian is even here. I tell him who's out here, he's surprised, but agrees to speak with the guy AFTER he's completed his application. I said, "I just love it when they think they know what's going on better than I do."
Is today over yet? 😂

Right? Like do you work here? Do you have any idea what our process is? Nope okay bye. Frankly I don't know any job I've worked that allowed someone to just walk in and ask for an interview.

I deal with this a lot, both from strangers and the men in the other room who think they know everything. 😂 Seriously though, so many of them come in and expect to get hired on the spot. And they think I'm lying when I tell them Brian isn't here, but out on a job somewhere!

The amount of people who think I am trying to thwart them when they ask for my boss is unreal. I don't care enough about you to thwart you, I care that I don't get yelled at for not having the answers to questions he's going to want. You have to fill out an application, IDC if he's expecting you, I know he's expecting an application!

I joke about being the gatekeeper of the office, but it's true in a way. You're not physically getting past me without cause. Although, I have a harder time with people on the phone refusing to give me information. The craziest part of it all is that it's always the legit callers that I have to pry information out of. OY.
People can be soooo frustrating. This is our job for the love of Chuck!

Jeff and his brothers have soooo many connections in this town because they were born and raised here and have been a large part of the community over the years. Anyway, a guy called one day not long after I started and identified himself as Judge So-and-So and asked for Jeff. Jeff was busy with something so I took a message and passed it along. Jeff comes out to me later and says, "So, Judge So-and-So said you didn't sound like you believed him." He was more amused than angry with me. 😂

Date: 2025-09-17 09:58 pm (UTC)I get that on a daily basis! Our company used to be owned by three brothers and their dad. Dad died about 10 years ago. The oldest brother retired in 2020, the youngest in 2022. Now, we're run by the middle brother and his two sons, but I get calls all the time asking for Dad or Brother #1. Yeah, no sorry, Dad's not in the office right now. When will he be back? Um, hopefully never. LOL
That is hilarious though, because not only was he no longer there, he was in jail.
