I was watching 9-1-1 Lone Star last night.  I'm behind on both it and the original so I started with LS since there are fewer seasons.  Hahaha.

Anyway, I was watching S4 E15 (I think): Donors.  Grace helps break up an organ trafficking ring while Owen's brother is visiting.  I was on IMDB because I was pretty sure that Detective Dickhead (who later turns out to be an okay dude) was Adam Baldwin (certified IRL dickhead).  While I was looking, I noticed that Owen's brother was played by Rob Lowe's actual brother.  I had no idea he even had a brother who acted.  It was kind of crazy because their voices are similar and their intonations/manner of speaking are very similar.

I'm sad that this got cancelled though.  I weirdly enjoy it more than the original.  Will have to check out Nashville as well.  I just love how freaking ridiculous the episode plots are.

(Wish I still had my talk to me Texas icon loaded.)

I also watched the Emma Thompson version of Sense and Sensibility over the weekend.  Kaige had rec'd it to me but at the time, Britbox only had another version.  Thankfully, BB got with the times and added this one as well.  I enjoyed both versions, but I will say that Alan Rickman makes a much better Col Brandon.  The dude in the other was much too old.  Hahaha.

And now I need to crowdsource opinions on the best adaptation of Jane Eyre.  Britbox has the 2006(?) version with Ruth Wilson, whom I really enjoy.  But I am open to suggestions.

Adam Baldwin from Firefly? Funnily, I've been watching The Magicians (I'm up to S4 of 5) and Jewel Staithe who was also in Firefly popped up this season!

I remember Rob Lowe had a brother, can't remember his first name, but I seem to recall he wasn't quite as pretty (there goes my shallowness!).

I am not the one to ask about Jane Eyre, I'm afraid. Had to read the book at school and I was so bored by the end of the first chapter, it was my first DNF. I haven't read any further into the romance writers of the era, and have never watched a single version of Pride & Prejudice nor Jayne Eyre. I will continue to progress thru many modern mm romances though 😄

That is the one. Did you know he blocked me on Twitter despite the fact I had never followed him OR interacted with him? (I did follow Zachary Levi and the guy who played Morgan on Chuck though.) It was rather amusing. Funny how they all seem to crop up out of nowhere.

I think it's Chad. But no, he's really not. I will admit this — I never found him attractive in his younger days, but he looks good now.

Hah! Kaige and I have been doing buddy listens (audiobooks) for a couple of years now. So, this year we're going through Agatha Christie's work, Austen's work, and the Brontes' work. She said she hated Jane Eyre in school, too, but I had never read it. The version of P&P I mentioned above is actually quite amusing, but I get it's not for everyone. I'd never read any Austen until a couple of years ago.

Hey, read what makes you happy. I don't read much romance — m/m or otherwise — as I prefer mysteries, thrillers, and fantasy, but I do read some. But I am reading a m/m (sort of?) graphic novel called The Demon of Beausoleil right now. Also, since you watched Heated Rivalry, you should check out Time to Shine by Rachel Reid. Everyone RAVES about HR being her best book, but honestly my fave is Time to Shine.

No! That's weird! Maybe he was just blocking anyone who ever commented somewhere that was important to him, or he accidentally blocked the wrong person? Ah who knows, these poor actors & their egos!

Lol! He wasn't my favourite brat-packer to be honest, I was into Andrew McCarthy, but I did think he was pretty. He's aged well though, and I'd agree he looks better now.

Tbh, romance really isn't my thing at all; I usually prefer sci-fi as #1, with thrillers, mysteries, road-trip/quest and some fantasy coming next, as I get a bit bored when the main thing is romance, but I do fall into the mm romance now & then till I get bored again, then it's back to my first loves as above!

I'm not hugely into mm sports romance books, but I'll watch anything that promises two boys kissing, so yes I loved Heated Rivalry onscreen, but having seen it, I probably won't bother to read any of the books, unless one pops up for free in my face! Thanks for the rec though, I'll keep it in mind if it does pop up!

It was very baffling when I discovered it. No big loss, he's outed himself as trash anyway.

I liked Andrew McCarthy back in the day, too! Emilio Estevez was always my favorite, which is interesting since I've never been much for blondes. Must have been Young Guns that did it. 😂

Honestly, for me, it depends on my mood. Sometimes, I just need something sappy or emotional. LOL But other times, bring on the orcs! Have you ever read anything by John Scalzi? I think most of his stuff is considered speculative fiction, but he is hilarious.

Time to Shine isn't part of that series, but I get not being into sports romances. I pretty much only read the sports I enjoy watching (baseball, hockey, would probably read some tennis).

ETA: You throw a cowboy into the mix, however, and I will read it alllllllllllllllllll... 🤠

No, I haven't read John Scalzi but I should look into him, because my very favourite thing is to add humour into the mix! I adore Terry Pratchett & Douglas Adams for that very reason!

Lol to the cowboy! I have to say one of my fave film genres is Westerns for the cowboys, and I read any mm romance that features them!

Yes, agreed! I think you might enjoy his stuff. Especially Starter Villain!

I'm right there with you. There's just something about a boy in boots. :D

As you know i love Rickman as Brandon. And Thompson always makes me cry when she tells her sister about Lucy's engagement.

I am at 47% through Jane and am going to put it aside at the end of the day tomorrow. Not DNF yet. But come back around later. We can start Austen Affair Friday. Although i have to say that Thandie Newton is amazing!

I did see that someone is casting for a Jane Eyre series.

He was very good, as he always was! Yes, that was heart wrenching!

It is a LOT, especially up until she gets away from her aunt and the school, so I get it. And The Austen Affair on Friday works for me. YES — she is a really good narrator.

I saw that yesterday. And the lady from the most recent season of The White Lotus might be Jane. Aimee Lou Wood or something like that.

I actually like the old black & white version of Jane Eyre with Orson Welles as Rochester, but if you're looking for something more recent, you can't go wrong with the 2010 version with Mia Wasikowska as Jane and Michael Fassbender as Rochester. It's quite good.

Oooh, thank you! I'll check my library and see if they have either version. I'm often surprised at what my library has in their DVDs (like complete seasons of The Big Bang Theory lol).
