Brownies and the weather

So, last night, Maddie and I started talking about brownies for some reason. 

And I made the comment that brownies are the one thing I haven't been able to make from scratch that doesn't taste better from a box.  This kid loves to bake and agrees with me.  She says, "I like my brownies fudgy, mom.  So fudgy that I question whether they're fully baked or not."

I mean, I get it, kid.  I like mine a little chewy on the edges and fudgy in the middle, but still  Close enough. 

Now, as for the weather, it's 68 currently, at 11:14 AM.  Our high today is 77, which is nice weather if you can get it.  However, by Saturday, we'll be in the mid-to-high 80's.  This makes me fear for the summertime.  I love it warm, but I'm going to see Kenny Chesney on my birthday this year.  July is brutal enough, y'all, can we not have record temps when I'm forced to stand outside this big, illuminated globe while waiting to get inside?  😂  My poor friend from PA might never come visit me again. 

Okay, that's my daily drama.

I only like brownies if they have things in them (chocolate chips, caramel, etc) or are part of an ice cream sundae. I do like the middle chewy and the edges crisp.

Ugh yes, I agree with you. I'm annoyed that it seems like it's going to be a hot as Hades summer.

Huh, that's interesting. They're like my favorite dessert next to tiramisu. LOL My mom used to make them and put crushed Butterfingers in them. About the only way I'd eat a Butterfinger. Hahaha.

It's going to be 82 today and it's not even March. Send help.

Do you add anything to the box mix? I know some people add a little coffee or espresso powder and I've used a recipe for Mexican hot chocolate brownies where I add a tablespoon of cinnamon and a teaspoon of cayenne. Those are so good.

I thought about going to the NHL draft two years ago for about a minute and then I realized that Vegas at the end of June would be insanely hot, so we passed. My car temp read 75 degrees when I got into it at the end of the day so yeah, I think this summer is going to be brutal.

I do sometimes. Oooh, the Mexican hot chocolate brownies sound really good. My mom liked to put crushed Butterfingers in hers, but I tend to default to either Andes mint pieces or Heath bar bits.

I remember you mentioning that and I'm glad you stayed away (despite the fact I'd have loved to have met up and had lunch with you or something). June is when it really ramps up here, with July and August being the worst of it.

I think the worst I've ever seen my car register is 128. Which is insane, I know. I hope that your temps hold off for as long as possible!
