I have to say this much: despite how much my husband loves to harass me about all things (especially two particular actors who shall remain nameless), he absoultely supports my fangirlishness. It all started when he found a Dean Winchester Pop Vinyl character for me at Hot Topic last January. He looked around and said, "But they don't have Sam. You can't have Dean without Sam. You'll have to look on Amazon when you get home."
I did. And I ordered him. Several days later, I had a pair of Winchesters.
That's when he realized we had another problem.
No. Cas.
"But you can't have Sam and Dean without Cas, Amy." Indeed. So I then went on a hunt for Castiel. Oddly enough, Mr. Jimmy Novak is a hot commodity and it took me forever to find him anywhere. And then I pushed my fangirl to the limit. I found him on Forbidden Planet. Only one problem:

Yeah... he had fly all the way from the UK. But - that's okay because it meant I finally had this:

YAY! But wait - it gets better becuase we hit the mall last weekend. Again, that redheaded maniac I'm married to started digging through the Pop Vinyls at Hot topic and found TWO MORE SUPERNATURAL CHARACTERS.

Do I not have an amazing husband? Especially since he didn't even ask if I wanted them, he just put them on the counter. On the other hand, I really think HE wants them, too, but won't buy them for himself. I will admit though, that I thought the fangirl week had ended last Sunday when we hit the mall. Wrong! Yesterday, while waiting for the brakes to get changed on his truck, he and his friend hit the comic book store and he brought this home for me:

Yeah, I'm shiny alright, captain.
And in unrelated news, I heard that one of my childhood heroes passed away. It's one of those things that you know will happen and yet... it catches you unexpectedly. Every time. I am devestated. All I can do is imagine that my grandfather, the biggest Cubs fan I've ever known, was standing there waiting to shake his hand whe he arrived.
Years ago, back when I was still in high school, my uncle was food and beverage manager at Troon North in Pinnacle Peak, AZ. The Chicago Cubs held their spring training in Chandler, AZ and all the players would come up to Troon to golf whenever they had a chance. He happened to walk into the dining room one morning and stumbled across Ernie Banks having breakfast. He introduced himself and followed with 'my teenage niece is a huge fan'. Mr. Banks, being the amazing and wonderful man he was said, "Go get a baseball and I'll sign it for her. I'm going to play a round and I'll come back." My uncle, being the wonderful man that he is, sent one of his employees all the way into Tempe (a good 45 minute drive) to buy a baseball and get back before Ernie left. Amazingly enough, he came back and signed the ball. "To Amy, Love Ernie Banks." I think I cried when it was given to me.
It's a beautiful day for a ballgame. Ernie, let's play two.

And OMG, the shirt! ;-)
Sorry to hear about your loss. Your uncle (and Ernie) sound like wonderful chaps!

Date: 2015-01-26 08:53 pm (UTC)I love those Pop Vinyls - they are the cutest things ever. Hahaha - I think he'd strangle me if I started shipping from NZ. Coming from England is bad enough.
The shirt was too much. :) I honestly think he only got it for me because they didn't have one in his size!
Aw, thanks. :) I never got to meet Ernie Banks, but my uncle said he was the nicest man he'd ever met.

Date: 2015-01-27 09:55 am (UTC)They are cute! My kids have bought them for friends, and I keep seeing them (the Game of Thrones ones!!!) and wishing I could justify buying some!
Ha! Vicarious living! Love it! (I just wish my hubby appreciated more sci-fi... some, but not nearly enough! HA!)

Date: 2015-01-27 05:53 pm (UTC)They are so cute! I love the Disney ones best, I think, but the Marvel are a close second. Ugh, I wouldn't have ever bought any of them if it hadn't been for my husband. He makes me do silly things for myself, which isn't always good. :D
I'll send you mine. I'd never been much into Sci-Fi and fantasy until him. He loves the stuff.

OH YES! I would love a hubby who was as into the SF as I am. :D Mind you, he (and my hubby) would probably have something to say about that!

Date: 2015-02-10 06:25 pm (UTC)I'm like your husband, it seems, which is why he does this for me. I'd rather spend it on my kids or something and then he comes home with a new Vampirella comic for me (true story). It's good that we have people like you and Troy in our lives. :)
Hahaha - maybe if we just leave them alone together enough it'll rub off? :)
