One of the nice things about living where I do is that I can start putting plants in the ground in February.  Almost three weeks ago, I picked up a few things at Lowe's and put them in my little raised bed in the back yard.  Then we got a freak cold snap, almost freezing temps and a week of rain.  I was worried about my poor little plants.  But, as luck would have it, they're doing mighty fine.

Strawberries...

Garlic....

Serrano chiles.

And so is the cat.

And then I took another trip to Lowe's this afternoon and picked up Roma tomaotes, Anaheim peppers, and asparagus.  I need a new hobby, I think.

Haaaaaaate.

LOL, no, I can't hate because we're going to hit 70 here tomorrow. :D Springtime is awesome!

I love your gardens! Your strawberries look much better than any I ever plant. Darn squirrels are always digging them up and mucking with the fruit. ;)

Aw, kitty!

It's all good, I can take it. LOL

Nice! Hopefully those nice temps stick around for a bit, too.

Thank you! It's small, but it's mine. We don't have squirrels in this area, but the birds sure do love them. UGH.

Hee! He was trying to eat the bush when I took that picture too. Idiot.

Agh, birds, I know. They demolished our blueberry bushes last year. We even tried stringing bird net across them but the birds... it's like that line from Jurassic Park. "Nature finds a way..." XD

LOL, outdoor kitties are so silly. We have several neighborhood cats that move from yard to yard, prowling around like they're little tigers or something. Silly kitties. :)

That's it exactly. And I don't doubt that the native lizards eat them as well. I know the desert tortoises we had loved fruit. LOL

My behemoth is an indoor cat, but he loves to go outside whenever he can. YES - we have one of those, too. He's a gorgeous smoke point Siamese and I have no idea why his owners let him roam free. I'd take him in in a heartbeat, he's so pretty.

It is nice to know that spring is showing up somewhere. But hey, we're going to be above freezing most of this week! I don't expect to see grass, but maybe sidewalk!

On the flip side, this only means the triple-digit heat will come faster. :)

YAY - getting above freezing is a huge step in the right direction. And I bet it's the prettiest sidewalk ever. :D

It's the dog path, not all that pretty.

Oh. Okay then. I retract my earlier statement. o_O

I think you found the hobby you need! ;-)

II'm so freaking lazy; you have no idea. All I can think when looking at all your great plants is 'how does she find time in amongst working, reading, the internet, TV, cooking and dealing with children'? because I sure as hell am not planting anything except seeds of doubt! HA! (sorry, this so great, really ;-))

Come look after the plants here too, please? My hubby gardens, but he has what I call a 'haphazard style' and everything seems to be random, not to mention eaten by bugs...

Hah! My husband disagrees. :D

Oh believe me, I do know! Any plant inside my house dies a horrid death. Those outside? Planted in the self-watering raised bed? They thrive. LOL But seriously, once summer hits, going outside in the 100+ degree weather is about the only quiet time I get - because no one will follow me out into it (except my idiotic cat). Aw, but thanks. I don't always succeed with my garden, but I try.

Sure, I'll be right over in like 18 hours or so. I'm rather haphazard as well, and this comment reminds me, I need to pull out my bug spray. Something's been at the leaves on my Anaheim pepper plant. Would love to see the little suckers try and eat the peppers though. :D
