So, last night my husband suggested we (finally) watch Man of Steel so we can return it to his father.  Said husband has a stack of movies he's borrowed from his parents, hasn't watched and hasn't yet returned either.  It's become a running joke between them over the years.  Anyway, seeing as I stumbled across Henry Cavill and decided he makes a perfect body double for my OC, Andrej Zeklos, I was all over it.  I was calling it research, but yanno, I kinda love Superman.

Not very far into the movie, we're treated to this delicious delight:

From my right I hear, "Well, he has the abs of Superman..."  LMAO.  These are the reasons why I love my husband so much.  The majority of the men I know wouldn't even admit to having noticed Mr. Cavill's abs.  But my redhead?  Yeah, he has no shame sometimes.

Are you done drooling yet?  He's a bit too buff for my tastes in the above picture, but he was playing Superman so I'll give him a pass.  And truly, he has the look.  To be honest, he even reminded me a bit of Tom Welling when he played Clark/Superman on Smallville.  I also thought his portrayal of Superman was right on par of that of Christopher Reeve.  Stoic, calm, and patient.  However, his take on Clark Kent was all his own, even if I was hoping for a touch of the goofy nerd that Christopher Reeve brought to the screen.

MAN OF STEEL

The movie itself, eye-candy aside, was actually really well done.  Story-driven, despite being an action packed superhero movie.  It's rare to be able to find both these days. Usually it's either all story and litle action or all action and wait, I'm supposed to have a plot, too?  LOL  But this wound up being a nice combination of both.  Although, by the time Supeman and General Zod were done fighting, half of Smallville and a good chunk of Metropolis was in shambles.

Having watched this, I'm now very excited for Batman vs. Superman coming out in... a freaking year from now.  I wonder where my Batman vs. Dracula graphic novel is?

Oh, gosh, I'm so glad you liked this film! I LOVE this version of Superman. When it comes to this particular hero, if he's not done right I find him to be a total turn off. I really like the Christoper Reeves version but the 2006 reboot I found it to be very *yawn*.

But gosh, this film absolutely nailed it for me. I thought Mr. Cavill did a spectacular job and I'm so excited we get to see him don the cape again in the near future. Gah, look at his pretty little face!

:D

I really, really liked it myself. :) I totally agree with you though. Superman was one of the few superheroes that always appealed to me (along with Batman and Spiderman, thanks Saturday morning cartoons!), so he has to be done properly or it makes me angry. :D I must have missed the 2006 reboot, because I do not remember that at all.

Absolutely. And my husband says the teaser trailers for Batman vs. Superman are good. Maybe I need to look them up now. He is so purty, isn't he? I think I need to scour Netflix to see what else he's been in that I can watch.

And speaking of pretty boys we both adore... I borrowed a copy of The Object of My Affection starring Paul Rudd from the library on Friday. I haven't seen this movie in ages, but it's the one that made me fall in love with the goofy boy. :D

Oh, gosh, now I'm going to have to look up those trailers too! I'm so excited! I always feel a little bad for DC comic characters - with all the success of The Avengers and The X-Men reboot, I feel like the DC characters are getting left in the dust.

Oooo, if Netflix has The Count of Monte Cristo (2002), you should definitely check it out! Henry only has a small role in it, but for being one of his first films he does a great job and his sweet little baby face is just to die for. :D That was one of my favorite films when I was a kid because I had a huge crush on the lead guy, Jim Caviezel. After seeing Man of Steel I was shocked to realize that sweet little boy from Monte Cristo is all grown up now! :D

I've never seen The Object of My Affection, but I'm definitely adding it to my "must see" list!

Oh gosh - just read the plot synopsis - yep, definitely need to see that now. :DDD

Errr... I just posted one because I looked it up myself. :D I know what you mean, especially since for me, the DC characters were always more prominent as a kid. Although, my brother read Iron Man for as long as I can remember.

Netflix doesn't, but my library does. Hahaha... Me and my library. :D I put a hold on it so now I get to wait. I love seeing actors/actresses when they're young and then stumbling over them again when they're older. It's always so much fun.

I haven't seen it in years, so I hope it's still as good as it was back then. HAHAHAHA - I knew that would catch your attention. :D I read the book probably 15 or 16 years ago and then, when they made a movie out of it, I was EXCITED. I highly recommend anything by Stephen McCauley. Some of his work is a bit bittersweet, but I love him.

There's a book too??? Well, guess who else is going to be hitting their public library this week? XDDD

Mmm, me too. I've been a fan of Batman as long as I can remember. LOL, especially the Adam West version, I love his Batman. :DDD I only recently got into Marvel with the Avengers films and then backtracked a bit to check out Spiderman and the first X-Men series.

Oh my gosh. Now I want to see this new dark Superman with Adam West!Batman. Like, I keep seeing that last scene from the trailer where Superman is floating there, backlit against the stormy sky, cape fluttering, and then cut to -

Brilliant! :D

YES. Hahaha... go for it! I've read The Object of My Affection, The Easy Way Out, and The Man of the House. I need to read his newer novels, but haven't had a chance yet.

Definitely! I watched a lot of the Adam West version as a kid. My grandmother's TV only got local stations and you got what you got on a Saturday afternoon. :) I'm pretty much the same way with Marvel, but there was always The Amazing Spiderman cartoons on or Justice League kind of thing in the 80's.

HAHAHAHA! I freaking love it. Go from all dark and sexy to... that.
