So, Saturday was my husband's birthday and my in-laws took us all out to dinner. As we were leaving the restaurant, I see this:

...and this...

Okay, okay, okay... so for those of you that live in areas where wildlife is common, this is a head tilt moment. I get it. But when you live in the desert like I do... well, jackrabbits are a reason for celebration! There were actually three of them hippity-hopping all over behind the restaurant. I think they were getting together with the Mama quail and her babies that my husband and kids spotted while I was chasing down the jackrabbits (which weren't actually all that afraid of me either).
What can I say, I'm an animal loving idiot. I kept hoping that my husband would get some pictures of the bighorn sheep out near where he works, but he hasn't seen any lately.
And while I have you, my Mother's Day gifts picked out by my husband and kids:

Because they know what I like. HAH.

Date: 2015-05-12 03:18 am (UTC)We have a pair that live around here - a brown/grey who likes to glare at me and a big black bunny with only one ear. They're cute, though. :D
Hah, for a second I thought you were photographing one of them wild jackalopes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackalope) I've heard so much about during my travels through the west. ;)
Aw, I love your Mother's Day presents! Such pretty flowers! LOL, and coffee. They know right how to work their way into your heart, huh? :DDD

Date: 2015-05-12 05:47 pm (UTC)HAH! When I was a kid, we were driving between Las Vegas and Phoenix and we stopped in some roadside diner that had mounted jackalope heads and it made me laugh. I must've been 12 or 13 at the time. Big ass antlers on a little jackrabbit. :D
Thanks! My family knows what makes me happy. Every year at Christmas, I get a stocking full of k-cups (for my Keurig coffee machine) and Twizzlers. :D And I'll always prefer the cheap present that I like over the expensive one that I don't know what to do with.

Date: 2015-05-19 10:42 pm (UTC)Hah! Yes, you know how much wildlife we have here, but that bunny is awfully cute. Our cats cracked me up yesterday morning when they jumped out on the patio to do their usual morning bird stalking - and a few humongous turkeys came right up to them. You could see the "oh, shit! Abort! Abort mission!" cross in front of their eyes, and they both jumped up on the patio table, frozen. I don't think they expected anything that large to encroach on their zone. Yes, the bunny made me think of all of that. :)

Date: 2015-05-20 06:31 pm (UTC)They're rather adorable when they're little like that. They grow up to be a bit odd-looking, with long, wide ears and narrow faces. But, they're what we get 'round these parts. :D
OMG! Hahaha... I would have loved to see Buddy in a situation like that. I bet his idiot self would have tried to chase the turkeys and gotten his butt kicked in the process.
