Most Wednesdays, I want to pull my hair out.  This morning, I got not just a surprise, but a laugh as well.

Over the last half of December, quite a few of our guys headed home for nearly a month.  We temporarily lost eight of our guys, half of which were foremen.  Plus, one had been in a car accident right before Thanksgiving and had broken his foot (the poor guy, he really is a sweetheart).  Why am I telling you this?  Because it means every Wednesdsay I was missing quite a few timecards.

Anyway, this morning as I'm sorting, I discover I'm only missing one - which is a big deal any week.  So, I go and ask Brother #1 (who heads up the coordination of the guys in the field) and asking about the missing employee.  After I ask if he'd worked at all last week, B1 says, "No, he didn't.  And we can't find him, either."

Well, okay then.

B1 then proceeds to tell me that the missing employee has been gone since New Year's.  At first, he thought he'd gone home to Mexico and hadn't been able to get back for whatever reason (he's perfectly legal, but things happen).  Then he heard our missing man had borrowed a car from one of his co-workers who also couldn't find him.  So, the plot thickens, as they say.

OMG, hahaha... I didn't even think about that. My head cannon is that he's sitting at home (either here or in Mexico), having a few cervezas and laughing at us.

Yeah, same here. I don't know where in Mexico his family is, but there are many parts that aren't safe.

Oh, I hope that's true! (and I'm ashamed to admit that I have a very stereotyped image of what that would look like in my head. Either that or it's a scene from some western I saw. *shrugs*) ;-P

I know, and it's the not knowing that makes you worry. I do hope it's a happy ending!

Well, when they caution you not to get off at certain ports during cruises and the news is full of stuff about drug cartels, I can see why you'd have a stereotyped idea. Plus, you're on the other side of the world, too. It's sad because I've always wanted to visit Mexico, but I'm afraid to do it now.

Agreed. Hopefully he'll turn up soon and get back to work.
