Day 1

List ten things that make you really happy.

Well, okay then. Here goes nothing.

1. My family.

2. My pets. And well, animals in general.

3. Books. But you knew that already.

4. Music.

5. Sunshine.

6. My imaginary friends. Especially Travis Murphy. He’s my spirit animal. Andrej is a close second.

7. My internet friends because I honestly have no real-life friends.

8. Coffee.

9. Key Lime pie.

10. Words. I know that sounds strange, but writing, reading, talking, learning a new language… it all brings me joy. Words equal knowledge and knowledge is power.

Seven makes me happy and sad at the same time.

*hugs*

You're stuck with me by the way. ;)

It has been like this for me for too many years. At this point, it's almost easier. The good news is, I have some really great virtual friends.

*squishes*

Ditto, honey. Ditto. :)

Don't feel alone in #7 - unfortunately, it's a thing that happens after 35ish more often than not. Right?

As I was recently reading, there's a huge second wave of it as people hit a certain number I won't scare you with (there's a five in it) and they start prioritizing how they spend their time and attention. I can attest to that. It's okay, though - I'm learning to look forward to future experiences rather than mourn those I shared past ones with. It's all good.

Ahhhhhh! Key lime pie. I'm sure we've discussed that. Key Lime and Lemon Meringue, yum.

I'm also with you on the words, and on internet friends. :)

It is good to know that I'm not alone in this. For me, I think the biggest impact was getting a job where I'm literally the only female. I love the guys I work with but... I really wouldn't want to hang out with most of them. :D

That makes a lot of sense. I've got a good five and a half years before I hit that number, but the things going on in my life right now have really been making me think about the things I do and where my time goes. Not just my husband's health, although that's a big part of it, but my kids growing up and getting their own lives. Exactly that though - learning to be a couple again once the kids are gone will be interesting, but also a fun exploration as well. Thanks for all this, too - it really helps put things in perspective.

YES. Lime is always my first choice, but I love anything citrus. Not a big fan of meringue, but lemon pie is amazing as well!

Words are my friends when no one else wants to be. :D I saw something once that said, "I love my computer. All my friends live inside." So yeah. :)

I know EXACTLY what you mean about words. I'm always telling my coworker how important word choice is. He's learning. ;)

When I had Cassie, I think she made me happier than at least 50% of my family. :D

Where did you get these questions?

Right? My boss and co-workers are constantly mispronouncing things (recently saying moot like mute), misusing words (cognitive is a repeat offense), and not caring. WORDS MATTER. CONTEXT MATTERS. But they're all former construction workers so... Glad that yours is learning!

Aw! But I totally agree. If the cat wants cuddles it's because the cat wants cuddles. No ulterior motive detected. :D

I found it on Pinterest (because I'm SUCH a mom-like-creature). This is the one I'm using (although there are a ton if you search):

Even just the little things. My coworker used to constantly ask if he could SEE the schedule, and after I held it up and hand-waved it Vanna-White style he started to ask if I would hand him the schedule. While mock punching me in the head, of course. :D

Thanks for the link! Pinterest doesn't play nice with my computer but maybe I will look around on google for some others!

Right? May I vs. Can I is always a bit one, too. Hahaha... I kinda think I like your co-worker (at least his sense of humor).

Ugh, I can understand that. I uploaded it to Flikr, so click on the image to go to the full-sized.

You're welcome! I also found a 25 Songs in 25 Days meme if you're interested. (I was bored... I really should not be given this much time off work.)

As you wish! (I'll probably do this once I'm done with the one I have going on right now.)

Love these! I do have RL friends, but don't see many of them often, which suits me. My online friends know me so much better in many ways, and we have more in common.

I think I'd like key lime pie (though I don't like lemon pie), but I've never actually had it!

Words are wonderful!

Thank you! This is true - I think sometimes you can be more honest and open with your online friends than you can the ones in RL. Also, you don't have to respond/interact with your online friends on their terms either, which I think helps a lot.

I looooooove key lime pie! I'm not sure if you know what they are or not, but key limes are smaller and sweeter than regular limes. They make a great pie. And it's creamier than what a lemon meringue pie is.

Yes, they are!

I do like lime flavour so much more than lemon, so I've always meant to try it, but it's no something you hear of here, though lemon meringue pie (which I do not like at all) is fairly common.

Lime is definitely my favorite of the two, too! I love lemon pie, just not that nasty meringue that goes on top! Whipped cream, please. LOL
