That ought to interest like two of you.

So, I stopped on the way home at a little, independent pet store I like to use. It's also the same place that hosted the rescue we adopted Violet from. After asking for kitten shampoo, I had to share the story with the guy that's always there and once he stopped laughing his ass off, he directed me towards it and handed me something. HUZZAH! They make waterless cat shampoo, so I didn't have to actually bathe her! Although, she IS a Maine Coon and our last MC LOVED the water. His dumb self would go roll in the grass whenever it rained.

Needless to say, it wasn't much easier to bathe her without water. She kept trying to jump out of the sink and meowed like I was threatening to ship her off to dog camp or something. Anyway, I got her cleaned, rubbed her down with a towel, and set the little crackhead loose. She would not come near me for a good 20 minutes. Whatever, cat. However, the second, I thought I could sit down and read until Troy got home, I got this:

Apparently, she agreed that what I was reading was something you could really sink your teeth into:

(Note to K: if C winds up with this book later on, there are actually teeth marks in some of the pages. LOL)

And so this doesn't turn into the Violet show, here's a picture of Nayla after she shelved herself. Hah. This bookcase needs to go upstairs, but I haven't managed to get it there yet. Might have to leave this particular shelf empty once I do.

Troy gives me a lot of crap for my pile of books, but Sunny thinks it's pretty neat. And yes, I know. I have a hoarding issue.

So, Violet no longer smells, the waterless shampoo seems to work really well, and I have too many cats (and books). What's up in your world?

(I think I need to add an 'animal drama' tag next.)

YAY for dry shampoo and bitten books!

I have a feeling there would have been bloodshed if I had to bathe her in water.

Funny story... I used to review for a website called Bitten by Books, so I guess it's fair? :D

Lol....

I've thought about using the dry shampoo on Daisy because giving her a bath is a trial and then some.

Don't feel about not moving the bookcase. I have one in the kitchen that needs to go in the livingroom, but has yet to make it there.

Adulting can be so hard some days.

It was definitely easier on Violet. I'm sure it'd be helpful for Daisy as well. Bonus: it was tropical scented and she smelled like raspberries after. (The brand is TropiClean, FYI.)

Hah, that sounds like the story of my life. Things that need to be moved but never make it. My biggest issue is that I need to clean out the spot where the bookcase is to go in my bedroom (I have a pile of blankets and folded sheets there now) and... I don't see that happening anytime soon. LOL

I'm tellin' ya. And my kid can't understand why I have no sympathy for her work woes. :)

All three of your cats are beautiful! Such pretty coats, and so different from each other. I have never heard of waterless shampoo for kitties- definitely a good thing.

I can barely clean my kitty's eyes- I only have limited 'Mommy Rights' as I call them. My first cat I hand raised- I had full Mommy Rights for grooming with her, lol.

Thank you so much! I discovered years ago - after I found out one of my cats had a grain allergy - that a grain free cat food does wonders for their coat. Also seems to decrease dander because my husband's friend is horribly allergic and noticed he sneezed less after we switched foods. The shampoo is like the dry shampoo for humans, worked really well.

Aw, the kitty you have now is a grouch like Nayla, it sounds like. Nayla has a couple mats right down the front of her chest and she growls if I even come near her with the brush. LOL It helps that Violet was found by the rescue when she was 2 days old, so she's been bottle fed and handled a lot since she's been born. Had I tried to bathe either of my other two? I'd probably be in the ER. LOL

Oh, that's good to know - I might have to get my kitty off the Purina. She likes it, so it's easy to use that for her hard food, but... yeah. Might be worth the effort. Am getting her to eat more wet food, which is good - I'm not free-feeding 24/7.

Ha. I've had to pill cats, frequently, but I've never had to give a bath. Peaches isn't so much cranky as still self-protective. I don't know how long she was abandoned, but I'm guessing she spent a few weeks wandering in stairwells. She regained 2.5 pounds after I got her, and stabilized there for some time- so to have lost two pounds while stray and in the shelter tells me she was on her own for a while. :(

The fact that she'll now show her belly and let me pet it is a wonderful reward. :) I'm honored.

I feed my heathens a Canadian brand of cat food - Acana - but Blue Buffalo is a good brand as well (and cheaper). Look for samples, I know a lot of the stores will have them. It's funny - Nayla, the big cat, would not eat wet food (or people food) at all. When we brought Violet home, I had to feed her wet food because it was what she'd been eating. Suddenly, now that the kitten has it, Nayla wants, it too. And, of course, can't leave Sunny out! LOL I'm going to go bankrupt buying cat food. But, they all will eat the dry stuff, too, if I ignore their whining long enough.

Ah, I can understand that. Sunny was 4 months old when we adopted her in November, and she's still very skittish around us. Half the time, if you stop to pet her, she runs away. But she'll rub up against you while you're cooking or something, so she's not totally afraid. Poor Peaches though, I'm grateful she was adopted by someone willing to take that time with her. i still need to get Sunny chipped - the rescue put it off because they weren't sure if she was going to turn feral or not.

See, that's a wonderful sign right there! She knows she's loved and safe now.

Suddenly, now that the kitten has it, Nayla wants, it too.... -- > Oh, my. Ha. They really are very 'monkey see, monkey do."

Thanks for the food tips - I've heard good things about Blue Buffalo, so this corroborates it. I'll give it a shot.

It's like raising my girls all over again. LOL

No problem! And a lot of the more usual brands are going grain free as well. I double checked and even Purina has a grain free option (ProPlan). All of my cats seem to like the Blue Buffalo kitten food and Nayla's a picky brat.

Much better, thank you! I do like a clean kitty. Thank God neither of ours has ever had to be washed - they do a pretty good job themselves. We won't talk about the dog.

And so many books! I love it, even if the bookshelf not being where you want it would be a right pain. I too have piles of books about, but not quite as many as you. I have managed to stack some of the more recent ones I've actually read on top of the previously shelved (and vertically slotted) ones; it's less noticeable when I buy new ones if the last lot are shoved in there somewhere! But then, you probably do that too - I know you read way more than I do!

Hah! It's a dog's job to get dirty and smelly! Violet's at a disadvantage though, she was orphaned at 2 days old. So, she's learned a lot from the other two, but sometimes she struggles.

If I could get that bookshelf where it belongs, a lot of the books wouldn't be on the floor! But then, maybe they would be. I have a really nice used bookstore near the house (and literally right beside the place Troy likes to get his chicken fingers from)!

It is! Despite how gorgeous he is when he's clean! Poor Violet; so glad she's got you now! Speaking of Violet, N2D took me outside to the small animals' quarters yesterday to show me the TWO NEW RABBITS SHE ADOPTED LAST WEEK & HADN'T YET TOLD US ABOUT, and they are called Isobel and Violet (N2D's current obsession is Downton Abbey, hence the names), and they are so cute. They're Flemish Giants like our Gideon and our dear departed Sophia, but still only babies. Pretty little things, and separated by a fence from Giddy until they're more used to each other, and are big enough NOT to get out through the backyard fence. *sigh*

(PS: I think I need a rabbit icon)

Hah, that sounds like my in-laws' dog, Deke! Yeah, she and three other kittens were found at the same time. These rescue groups are amazing.

OMG, your daughter is like my Maddie. She'd do the same thing if she thought she could get away with it. Aw, they sound gorgeous, can't wait for the pics!

(I have a couple that were made for me, have at them.)

Also? That is a LOT of books. A LOT. Like really.
A lot.

Aw, thank you! I love them, but I'm biased. :D And thank you! I think I'll do more when I'm stressed instead of whining.

Er... um... that's what I keep getting told by my husband. LOL
