So, some good stuff to report today.
First, Troy had his yearly review yesterday and it went well. Not that we were worried, but you always get a little nervous about these things if you care about your job. Anyway, he was promoted to designer level 2, which is amazing since he has no formal training as a designer - everything he's learned has been on the job. This comes with a pay bump as well as salary. That last bit is the best news considering all his damn doctor's appointments he has these days. So, he was rather happy last night.
As a bonus, he told his boss that he'd like to start looking into classes to help him better understand the whys and hows of what he's doing. His boss told him that as long as it was work related they'd cover anything from half to the full cost of the class. Score!
I have no doubt you're all sick and tired of hearing about my bike at this point, but I hit a milestone in a way last night. My first 45-minute ride! I was worried that I'd crash at the 30-minute mark but amazingly enough, I made it all the way through to the end and never really struggled once. Also, I didn't swear at or threaten Matt (the instructor) either. That says a lot. LOL
My stats, if you're interested:

This was an endurance ride, so the pace was average, which is probably what saved my flabby butt. Got another 45-minute ride on deck for tonight. Not sure if I can pull two off in a row, so I might cheat and opt out for a 20 or 30 minute ride instead.Feel free to yell at me and tell me I need to stick with the program.
So, that's my good news for the day. What's going on in your world?
P. S. Kaige - I'm up to episode 5 of The Boys now. The bit with the baby in the lab had me screaming with laughter this morning.

Date: 2019-08-02 02:41 am (UTC)Sorry I haven't paid much attention to your rides and how you're doing on FB, but I am nonetheless proud of you and that you are sticking to it! Well done, you! Do the shorter ride if you need to; your body will tell you! There's always another day for a long ride, but tackle it if you feel able.
Oooh, what's this The Boys thing? I may have to look it up.

Date: 2019-08-02 03:14 pm (UTC)Don't apologize. I post to FB to keep myself accountable, nothing else. I don't honestly expect anyone to care because, let's be real, most people don't. My Uncle Leonard is about the only one truly invested and that's only because he likes to ride (on a real bike lol) himself. Know what I mean? But I do appreciate the encouragement you guys give me here.
The Boys is on Amazon Prime. Here's a link to the trailer. It's on YouTube so hopefully it isn't region-blocked. (I hate that they do that, it's dumb.) It's hysterical, gory, racy, and a whole lot of fun.

Date: 2019-08-09 11:10 pm (UTC)Thanks for that. I have seen your posts an am proud of you, but especially lately just haven't had the energy to deal with a lot other than my own woes!
The Boys does look fun! I saw an article on it after all the discussions here, and cannot now for the life of me remember which platform it'll be on here, but it's definitely on my list to watch when I can - especially with not one, but TWO Kiwi stars in it.

Date: 2019-08-12 06:20 pm (UTC)It was a great show! I laughed and I was grossed out, hit all the high points. Hahaha. I hope you can find it! I know one of them is Karl Urban, who is the other?
(And there was a scene where Karl, using what I guess might be his natural accent, was talking to an American who said, "What's with your accent?" And Karl's character says, "What's with yours?" and I about died laughing.)
