March TV/Movie Update

I almost forgot to do this. Should have done it yesterday but didn’t want to overload you all with posts.
TV:
Finished season 3 of The Affair
Secrets and Lies – season 1. Love this show, hate that it only got 2 seasons!
Behind Her Eyes – what a trippy ass show. I need to read the book now.
Goliath – season 1. Really liked this. Thank you K for suggesting it.
Star Trek Discovery – season 3. Now, I’m hoping for season 4.
Castlevania – season 1 (don’t judge me). Anime based off the video games (or so I assume). Not bad for a 4 episode season.
Movies:
Solo: A Star Wars Story. Interesting look at how Han became who he was.
Sicario: Day of the Solodado. Brutal, but a good movie.
Man of Steel. I’m… just going to sit here and eat my pistachios.
Batman vs. Superman. I’d never seen this but it wasn’t too bad. I was a touch confused at times though.
Suicide Squad. This wasn’t half as bad as everyone made it out to be honestly.
Bless Me, Ultima. I watched this because it was on Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s IMDB page. (Same with Sicario lol) Turned out to be a really good, if a bit odd of a movie.
What’s up next:
I started season 3 of Killing Eve yesterday so I’m going to finish that. After, I’m not sure what’s up next. In case you didn’t notice above, I’ve started working my way through the DC movies. I think Justice League is next, and I’ve never seen that, so I’m hoping it’s good. Have some catching up to do with 911, Lonestar, and Prodigal Son, so I ought to get through those soon.
Serious question though. I started watching The Godfather because, shockingly, I’d never seen it. I got thirty minutes into it and had to shut it off. I was bored to freaking tears. I know this is supposed to be a classic, quotable movie, but…? Have any of you seen it and did you love it? Should I give it another try?
As always, I’m highly suggestible, so recs are welcome!

Date: 2021-04-05 12:08 pm (UTC)Godfather: I don't know that I enjoyed it. I know it was one of my step-mother's favorites, so I've seen it a dozen times. I would give it another half hour, I don't know that it's 'exciting', but I think of it as a basis for all things mobster movies. I don't think other things that have been done since would have captured America without this movie. Give it another little bit of time, and then go visit your fabulous museum! OH MAN! I loved that museum. Actually I enjoyed all of the museums we went to on that trip. IDK that I'd rec the second and third Godfather, but one of them spends a lot of time on backstory which was interesting.

Date: 2021-04-05 04:30 pm (UTC)I like your take on this. I think I'm going to give it another try and if I'm not into it by the hour mark, bail. It's a classic for a reason and I think I owe it that much.
Hah! Our former mayor was a lawyer for the mob in his younger years, and I think that museum was partly his doing. I haven't made it down there yet, but I'm certainly going to go eventually. And the atomic museum — can't remember what it's called though. That should be interesting with all the testing they did here in the state.
Thank you!

Date: 2021-04-05 05:19 pm (UTC)The atomic testing thing didn'tjust cover the crazy people who stood on their balconies in Vegas and had bomb parties, it goes world wide, very cool. But the best one was the neon museum.
Only I would go to vegas to museum hop. Well, me and H!
I love James Caan in Godfather, and Abe Vigoda. And Luca Brasi. And like you said, so much of our vernacular comes from this.
I started The Great over the weekend. I kind of love her

Date: 2021-04-05 05:54 pm (UTC)Oh, good to know! It's something that's always interested me, but no one I knew would go with me. And it's actually not far from my office. Hmm... Bonus, they give residents a $4 discount. LOL The Neon Museum is amazing. And for years, right by my office was one of the sign companies that made those crazy signs. For the first several years I worked here, I drove past the M&M bag that's on the front of the M&M store now. LOL
Hahaha... I would, too, but I'm nerdy like that. :)
I love Abe Vigoda anyway, but I'm definitely going to give it a second try. Weirdly, I was surprised by how attractive young Robert De Niro was. Hah.

Date: 2021-04-05 07:53 pm (UTC)I will say that the atomic is a bit dry, but the Mob has a lot of interactive bits, and a great gift shop. The shop at Atomic is geekily quirky and I believe you would enjoy the shopping bit at the very least.
I did not see that show, I've heard mixed things about it, but it was on when I had no cable and no streaming access. A lot of things were missed.

Date: 2021-04-05 08:10 pm (UTC)History is my thing and I can deal with dry. But the Mob Museum sounds like a blast. Oooh, quirky and geeky, I like it.
We really enjoyed it. I think the last season might not have been great, but it's been a long time so I don't even remember. I missed a lot, too, even with cable. If Troy wasn't interested, for the most part, I didn't get to watch it. Once we got a DVR later, it got better though.
