Man, another week has come and gone.  Not a whole lot going on around here.  Taylor did finally land a job at the hospital she wanted to work at, so that’s a huge bonus.  She starts October 9th.  Maddie’s trudging along with school and work, hanging out with her friends, too.  Me?  I’m just working and hanging out at home, the same as always.  And the cats, well, they’re catting all over the place.

What I read:

The Silence by Kendra Elliot.  Audiobook.  The second in her Columbia River series and it’s pretty good.

XOXO, Cody: An Opinionated Homosexual’s Guide to Self-Love, Relationships, and Tactful Pettiness by Cody Rigsby.  Better known to non-Peloton people as “Boo”, Cody is one of my favorite instructors.  He’s always funny and on point, but in this memoir, he digs deep and gives you another side of him.  I liked it a lot and thought that it had a lot of depth and good advice.

What I’m currently reading:

Time to Shine by Rachel Reid.  A cute m/m hockey romance that has been VERY fluffy and fun so far.  Hope to finish it tonight.  This is an ARC that I need to finish and review soon.  LOL

The Crepes of Wrath by Sarah Fox.  Audiobook.  Only just started it this morning so no real opinion yet, but I do like the main character so far.

What’s Next:

A Case of the Bleus by Korina Moss.  Another ARC that publishes on 9/25.  Good thing it’s a cozy mystery and ought to be a quick read.

The Vampires of El Norte by Isabel Cañas.  I’m getting excited for spooky season and want a good horror (or horror adjacent) novel.  I loved The Hacienda, so I’m hoping this is good, too.

What I’ve been watching:

Spirited Away – an old Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki animated film.  It was one of Taylor’s favorites when she was little and I had a hankering to watch it.

Alt-Right: The Age of Rage.  Stumbled onto this on a streaming service and thought it’d be interesting.  It was also infuriating, but yanno.

Enemies: The President, Justice, and the FBI.  A four-part mini-series that starts with Watergate, moves to the Iran-Contra Affair, to the many scandals during the Clinton Administration, and on to Trump.  It was very enlightening because I was born during Watergate (’74) and was a kid during the whole Iran-Contra Affair.  I was also a teen/young adult during most of Clinton’s BS, so I was vaguely aware of his mess, but didn’t know a lot of details.

The Good Place – Taylor was looking for something short to watch the other night and I finally – after several years of trying – convinced her to watch it with me.  YAY!  We only got through the first episode, but she laughed several times and said she didn’t hate it.

The Night Agent – still working on this with Taylor as well.  She’s dog sitting for my in-laws so it’s on hold for now.

Only Murders in the Building – This is a weekly thing and is on hold, too, I suppose until Taylor’s done dog sitting.

What’s up next:

Not sure.  I ordered a DVD of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, since all the Harry Potter watching got me wanting to see Gary Oldman in something else.  I have some other DVDs to watch, so maybe I’ll plow through them instead of streaming something.

Oh, lastly, I found this neat app called Bookmory that allows you to track your reading.  And, at the end of the month or whenever, you can produce a graphic showing what you’ve been reading:

Isn’t that neat?

Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend.

I love Gary Oldman as Sirius Black in the Harry Potter movies and he's so good in so many others, too. I think I've seen that one, will have to look and see if it's streaming anywhere.

It's become a fun little distraction for me. :D Aw, read at your own pace. You have lots going on as it is!
